Bushfire

VR bushfire and wildfire firefighter training

Immersive, realistic, and intense, our VR training environment for bushfires and wildfires are designed to deliver high-impact training, honing skills and responses that could make the difference in a real-world emergency.

VR firefighter training — burnover scenario

In this scenario, participants experience being stranded in a fire truck as a bushfire rapidly approaches. Participants must react to the horn signal by executing a detailed burnover readiness procedure, including depressurising and disconnecting the hose, entering the truck, and preparing for the burnover.

VR wildfire firefighter training — ember attack

In a simulation that brings home the reality of bushfires, this scenario simulates an ember attack on a house in a rural setting due to a distant bushfire. Participants must control spot fires and safeguard the property, prioritising asset protection and identifying safe anchor points.

This environment is ideal for understanding how fire impacts properties, the influence of exposures on fire spread, and effective dynamic risk assessment. Participants will also gain hands-on experience in communication, understanding resourcing requirements, and reporting procedures.

Immersive learning with VR firefighter training — grassfire

In this engaging simulation, participants face a rapidly advancing grassfire threatening a rural Australian property. With the fire propagating randomly and tree crowns emitting burning embers, participants have a crucial two-minute window to safeguard the property before the fire arrives.

This immersive scenario is designed to teach valuable hose handling techniques, precise water application methods, and on-point dynamic risk assessment. Participants will learn the importance of prioritising asset protection, and understanding the approach and extinguishing techniques in a real-time scenario.

This scenario underscores the necessity of effective communication, understanding resourcing requirements, and appropriate reporting to command. A focus is also placed on identifying safe anchor points and ensuring protection from radiant heat, mimicking real-life conditions of a threatening grassfire situation.

These realistic virtual environments allow trainees to experience and navigate high-stress situations safely, honing their decision-making and problem-solving skills, and ultimately preparing them for real-world firefighting challenges.
