VR dockside firefighter training
VR container fire scenario
Trainees engage with a realistic simulation of a container fire, understanding the intricacies of neutral plane dynamics and the potential for flashover events. Teams will hone hose handling skills and effective water or foam application, learning to bounce off container sides to contain the fire. A strong emphasis on dynamic risk assessment, word-back communication, and understanding the manifestation of hazardous materials are integral to the training outcomes, ensuring teams are well-versed in comprehensive emergency response protocols.

Practice indirect attack techniques in our VR firefighter training environment
The dockside environment provides a unique challenge with scenarios requiring vertical and horizontal indirect attack methods — bouncing suppressant and demonstrating the value of steam in fire extinguishment. Another presents a vertical attack scenario, where trainees must navigate the complexities of directing water onto the seat of the fire from above, utilising the principles of steam conversion for effective fire suppression.
VR firefighter training scenario: crane rammed by cargo ship
This high-fidelity scenario involves a cargo ship collision with a loading crane, testing trainees on command and control in a large, hazardous environment. This scenario develops their ability to perform a 360º size-up, choose the correct suppressant, and provide dynamic risk assessment under pressure, all while maintaining clear communication across multiple agencies.

Gantry crane fire
This scenario reinforces the importance of safety protocols while ascending to and operating at significant heights, fostering confidence in handling potentially catastrophic events. In the event of a gantry crane fire, trainees must utilise their skills in high-elevation firefighting, navigate risks associated with working at heights, and deploy fire suppressant techniques effectively.
Training environments tailored to real-world demands
FLAIM Systems is committed to equipping firefighting teams with immersive training solutions that mirror the complexity of real-world dockside emergencies. Each scenario is designed to provide comprehensive skills, from tactical fire suppression techniques to strategic risk assessments and inter-agency collaboration.
