Safety & Space Requirements
The safe use of the FLAIM Workplace Safety - Fire is paramount. The following safety guidelines should be followed to ensure that users and support staff are protected at all times.
Safety Advice
- FLAIM WSF is only to be used to train those who respond to fire safety.
- FLAIM WSF must not be used for operational or actual firefighting or live fire training.
- Do not use in wet conditions or expose to direct water.
- Do not use in conjunction with firefighting liquids or agent streams including gas, carbonaceous or other fuels.
- FLAIM WSF should only be used inside and away from direct sunlight. Direct sunlight can damage the VR headset displays and will void the system warranty.
- FLAIM WSF has batteries within the headset and controllers which must be charged and maintained for optimal use. It is critical that the headset and controllers are checked for damage before and after use and before and after charging.
Safety Boundary
Activating the optional Safety Boundary creates an in-headset view where a boundary net appears when the user is approaching the edge of a determined training space and then automatically activates the headset passthrough mode if the user should move beyond the boundary.
- Whilst on the Launcher screen, open the Settings by clicking the gear icon.
- Select the Enable Safety Boundary option, highlight the box to activate.
- There are three different sizes to select: Small, Medium, Large.
The following training space layout is recommended for optimising the immersive learning experience.
Key:
A - Extinguisher bottle
B - VR Headset
C - Screen (should ideally be on a wall out of reach from the Extinguisher user)
D - FLAIM receiver
E - Power outlet
