Using a Router
Using a Router with Trainer
For this article, we will be using the NETGEAR AC750 (R6020) WiFi Router, but any dual band 5G router may be set up using the same method.
- To begin, ensure that your router is plugged into a power source using the included power cable. Then, use the included ethernet cord to plug one end into an open ethernet port on the back of the router.
- Next, run the other end of the ethernet cord to the open port located on the top left of your Hose Reel.
- For later steps, we will need to know the Network ID and Password for your router. These are typically found on the top and/or bottom of the router.
- Now that the router is connected, open your iPad and open the Settings app.
- Select Wi-Fi on the left menu and scroll down to locate your Network ID from Step 3.
- Select your Network ID and enter the password you found in Step 3, then click Join.
- Once connected, select the blue i icon on the right hand side of your router's network.
- Locate the section titled "Configure IP" under the "IPV4 Address" heading and select Automatic.
- Change the option by selecting Manual. After selecting manual, you will notice a few new fields are displayed at the bottom under a section titled Manual IP. Next to the option for IP Address, enter 192.168.0.21. For the next option for Subnet Mask, enter 255.255.255.0. You may leave the field next to Router blank. Once you enter the IP Address and Subnet Mask, select the Save button in the top right corner.
- After saving, confirm that the information found under the section titled "IPV4 Address" changed to the information you entered, also pictured below. If it did, you are now done with configuring your router's network on the iPad. Each time you connect to the router's network, these settings should be automatically saved so that you will not need to go through these steps again.
- Now, navigate to your SCBA. Using the mouse, hover over the bottom of the screen to display the Taskbar. Then, select the globe icon in the bottom right corner to open up the WiFi connections screen.
- Locate your router's network and select it.
- Select Connect.
- Enter the Network Password from Step 3 and select Next.
- Select Yes.
- Wait for the network to connect.
- Once it connects, your router's network should now be displayed at the top with the label "No Internet, secured". This means that your SCBA is now connected to the router's network. You may now click on black FLAIM application in the task bar to return to the VR Screen.
- You will now be able to use the FLAIM Trainer iPad app as your normally would.
