Battery Care & Charging

Battery Care & Charging

Critical: The batteries used by FLAIM Trainer are high capacity and should be treated with respect. Avoid dropping, extreme temperatures and exposure to liquids.

Batteries should be inspected before and after use. If swelling, cuts, nicks or damage to the battery is detected, replace and recycle according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Batteries should be charged before and after use. Batteries should never be left connected to the SCBA sets for extended periods.

Batteries should be charged in an open area, ideally on a cement or non-combustible surface, away from ignition sources and flammable objects. All batteries should be charged under supervision with appropriate fire protection in place (dry chemical extinguisher).

FLAIM cannot guarantee 'no-name batteries' and will not warrant FLAIM hardware when incorrect batteries are used.

Failure to manage batteries may result in damage to the user and the FLAIM Trainer.

Branch / Nozzle

The branch / nozzle batteries are non-rechargeable standard off the shelf AAA batteries. They should be replaced as a first response if the branch / nozzle begins to show inconsistent connection.

Ensure the batteries are placed in the correct direction.

Branch / Nozzle Puck

The nozzle puck is charged via a micro USB cable supplied in the kit. This USB cable can be connected to a USB power brick or the USB port on the left side of the battery charger. When fully charged, the power light should show a solid white colour.

The nozzle puck should last ~8hrs and charge within 1 hour.

Controller

The Branch / Nozzle Tracker and Controller should be charged after each use. Connect the micro USB cord to both the Controller and the battery charger.

The controller should charge within 1 hour and provide approximately 4 hours of use.

SCBA

Batteries should not be charged when hot. They may require a 30 minute cooling period once removed from an SCBA before charging is commenced.

The included batteries have a thermal safety mechanism built-in and will not charge if too hot.

The SCBA battery connects to its charger by sliding into the charge bay:

  • A red light means the SCBA battery is low charge or charging
  • A green light means the SCBA battery is fully charged
  • The SCBA battery should be fully charged within approximately 1 hour and provide between 1 to 2 hours of standard use.

Important: FLAIM recommends exclusively purchasing Milwaukee, 6Ah or 12Ah batteries.

iPad

Connect iPad to a power outlet using the included cable and power adapter.

Keyboard

The keyboard contains 2 x AA batteries. These should be replaced and recycled according to the manufacturer’s instructions here.

Armband Heart Rate Monitor (optional)

  1. Attach the Armband Heart Rate Monitor to the charging base.
  2. Connect the USB to a USB port in the Hose Reel.
  3. A red light means the device is charging.
A blue light means the device is fully charged.
