iPad Software Updates
Update software on your iPad using Mac
On your Mac, you can update software on your iPhone, iPad, or an iPod touch.
- Connect your device to your Mac.
- In the Finder
on your Mac, select the device in the Finder sidebar.
- Click General in the button bar.
- Click Check for Update.
- If there is an update available it will show as an option, click Update to begin installing.
Connect to a Wi-Fi network
- From your Home screen, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Turn on Wi-Fi. Your device will automatically search for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Tap the name of the Wi-Fi network that you want to join. Before you can join the network, you may be asked to enter the network's password.
- After you've joined the network, you'll see a blue tick
next to the network and the connected Wi-Fi icon
in the top right-hand corner of your display.
Wirelessly update your iPad
- Plug your device into a power source and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
- Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
- If you see two software update options available, choose the one that you want to install.
- Tap either Install Now or Download and Install instead - whichever is showing.
