iPad Software Updates

Update software on your iPad using Mac

On your Mac, you can update software on your iPhone, iPad, or an iPod touch.

  1. Connect your device to your Mac.
  2. In the Finder  on your Mac, select the device in the Finder sidebar.
  3. Click General in the button bar.
  4. Click Check for Update.
  5. If there is an update available it will show as an option, click Update to begin installing.

Note: If you don't have an Apple Mac you can connect the iPad to a local network. 

 

Connect to a Wi-Fi network

  1. From your Home screen, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Turn on Wi-Fi. Your device will automatically search for available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Tap the name of the Wi-Fi network that you want to join. Before you can join the network, you may be asked to enter the network's password.
  4. After you've joined the network, you'll see a blue tick  next to the network and the connected Wi-Fi icon  in the top right-hand corner of your display.

 

Wirelessly update your iPad

  1. Plug your device into a power source and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  2. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  3. If you see two software update options available, choose the one that you want to install.
  4. Tap either Install Now or Download and Install instead - whichever is showing.
