CFA is rolling out FLAIM Trainer to its 30,000 plus volunteer firefighters, with a tailored training package to deliver their number on priority – people’s safety.

CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan said the initial concept to integrate this type of immersive learning into training came from volunteers themselves – as a way to “give volunteers a ‘real life’ ability to assess their skills, without exposing them to danger”.

 

 

FLAIM Trainer is going to be a game changer for how we train our members into the future. The VR technology is really endless to the experiences we can bring to our members. From the simplest things like using a fire extinguisher, through to going through a room on a search and rescue type arrangement, it allows us to introduce people to those environments and what it is like – but also allow them to train in that safe environment.
